Strange, distasteful web ad at NYT

Here’s a little Friday morning food for thought. This is an ad that has appeared every day on the New York Times web site for the last few weeks.

Quick as you can, list all the things that disturb you about this graphic.

I spend so many hours glancing at images each day, many of them out of the corner of my eye while reading an article on the internet, for example. But when I stopped and really looked at this one, I was struck by how many negative and sinister messages it contained, at least for me. All I could think was, “Who the hell signed off on this? And why hasn’t it been pulled yet?”
