This week I tried out the newest addition to the niche restaurant scene in NYC – “Totally Baked.” Isn’t it about time for a designer baked potato shop? How have we survived all this time without it? The service is slow for a Manhattan lunch spot, as the uber-friendly staff tops your potato and bakes it off to order. I chose to create my own tater – with chives, manchego cheese, and wild mushrooms. It was worth the wait – very tasty, and accompanied by a fresh salad, all packed up in a cardboard box that seems a bit odd when contrasted with the trendy menu (which includes a truffle baked potato for $55).
Will I be back? Sure. And if you have the time and the craving for a refined baked potato in the Flatiron district, then this spud’s definitely for you.
